We are thrilled to have you join us in the Koala Data Hub.
This Hub is a platform for sharing environmental data and data insights for initiatives being delivered by DCCEEW.
Here you will be able to access:
- Data provided via SEED.nsw.gov.au grouped by theme into each hub to enhance discoverability.
- Insights to help you gain an accurate and deep understanding of environmental data related to environmental science projects. You will find information, analytics, dashboard, videos or tools that help interpret the data in an adaptive way.
- Intelligence - the ability to acquire, develop and apply environmental data knowledge and skills. SEED hubs present case studies and forums which provide an opportunity for the community to generate knowledge about how data is used to derive environmental decision making.
We value your input and encourage engagement through the Forum - we want to hear from you as we build a Hub community space that fosters conversations and knowledge sharing for the benefit of all Hub visitors.

Potential impact of ‘Unrealised’ development on Koala habitat
Overview
Data layers provided by the LGA and the information within are only valid at the time of production. The habitat layer provided by the LGA may vary in spatial coverage of vegetation based on the date of production and the latest imagery used to determine current vegetation presence.
Potential clearing of vegetation based on landuse zoning is only indicative as variable outcomes of vegetation clearance based on the landuse zoning can occur.
Koala Corridor mapping is only indicative as koalas do not traverse the landscape in a linear direction, although they will seek favoured trees.

Koala Corridor mapping is only indicative as koalas do not traverse the landscape in a linear direction, although they will seek favoured trees.
Koala occupancy mapping is only indicative as records rely on recording koalas in the landscape, records are driven by human activity.
Not all areas were assessed, only areas that have the potential to be developed and therefore the potential to impact koala habitat.
This research has been funded by the NSW Koala Research Plan under the NSW Koala Strategy. The NSW Koala Research Plan sets out a targeted and coordinated way for us to increase our knowledge of koalas. It is a 10-year plan that will be regularly reviewed and updated throughout its life.
